What would we like from you?

  • Assist the SHE Director in ensuring that H&S policies and associated documentation relating to health and safety at work are prepared, approved, distributed, implemented and reviewed on a regular basis and that changes are made as and when appropriate.
  • Liaising regularly with other management grades on matters relating to health and safety at work.
  • Keeping informed of relevant changes in health and safety legislation.
  • Formulating plans and strategies designed to promote awareness of health and safety matters.
  • Providing support and assistance to all employees in matters relating to health and safety at work.
  • Ensuring that accidents, dangerous occurrences and other events which may adversely affect the health and safety of those who work under our control are properly reported, recorded and investigated with a firm view of avoiding a recurrence.
  • Ensuring that all employees receive such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to enable them to work safely.
  • Ensuring that regular opportunities are provided for all employees to discuss health and safety issues, to voice concerns over working practices or conditions and to make suggestions for improvements. These opportunities may include those for personal representations or those provided through recognised groups and committees.
  • Ensuring that all employees clearly understands that they are empowered to STOP WORK should they feel they are putting themselves or others in danger or they could harm the environment.
  • Attend client SHE forums and meetings and be the companies point of contact for SHE matters for their respective allocated regions.
  • Support site teams in maintaining compliance with company and legal standards.
  • Carry out both announced and unannounced SHE audits.
  • Review of project specific SSOW.
  • Review of prospective sub-contractor submissions.
  • Good communication skills; liaising with site teams, sub-contractors and clients’ representatives.
  • Ensuring that quality assurance policies and associated documentation relating to health and safety at work are prepared, approved, distributed, implemented and reviewed on a regular basis and that changes are made as and when appropriate.
  • Undertake or arrange for quality audits to be periodically undertaken to monitor compliance standards.
  • Raise Non-conformances and follow up actions as required for quality issues.
  • Assist the SHE Director in managing and updating the company SHE process in a timely manner as required to remain compliant with relevant legislation.
  • Ensure matters of SHE are revied, distributed and monitored effectively and timely to prevent adverse situations for developing.
  • Allocate sufficient time to site audits to effectively monitor compliance.
  • Liaise with project teams’ pre-construction on project specific SHE matters.
  • Ensure that sufficient funding is considered by the company to minimise adverse risk to all those that me be affected by our activities.

What Skills & qualifications do we require?

  • NEBOSH Construction
  • Minimum Level 5 NVQ Occ H&S
  • SEATS or Aiema
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a SHEQ position
