Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary

Another fantastic day at Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary volunteering as part of our community support programme!

We came together with Bristol Water as the Strategic Partnership to show our support and give some of our time back to such an amazing organisation.

Although it rained ALL day……we rolled up our sleeves and did a morning’s hard graft before retreating into the kittens for the afternoon!

As a year-end round up, I would like to thank you and the teams you brought in July and recently in November.

July was probably best chosen as we had great weather and cleared the weeds and cleaned the equipment in the cat garden.

This is an essential space where all the cats get to spend some time outside exercising and experiencing usual garden objects such as plants, pots and now, thanks to your newly learnt construction skills, 2 cat houses which were donated as a request of someone’s Dad who sadly passed.

The cats like to shelter under the building and go inside as it is intriguing to them.

November saw your team dodging the showers and painting and preserving the fence around our precious wildlife space with a pond which is home to a creature yet unidentified!

I loved the competitive element you brought to the knots of painters up and down the fence; you all seemed to have fun and I certainly did too. Rain stopped play and unfortunately cut short your Dog play time but the cuddled cats were most appreciative.

Your donation was gratefully received and will buy essential food. You have also taken some collection buckets for an office collection and works event; the idea is brilliant.

All in all, we thank you for 2 full days with c 10 staff helping us and bringing cheer and support to the animals we treat and rehome and also it is a boost to the staff as they are lifted by cheerful groups and the work undertaken makes their environment a little better too.

So, briefly, thank you very much for bringing and leading these teams and we look forward to having you back next year; fingers crossed.
