As we continue to grow, we are looking for a proactive and driven Assistant Construction Manager to support the successful delivery of our projects within the Wessex Water framework.

About the Role

As an Assistant Construction Manager, you will support Project Managers and Construction Managers in delivering safe, high-quality projects on time and within budget. You will play a key role in coordinating site activities, managing teams, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.

What skills & experience do we require?

  • Previous experience in construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of site management processes, including RAMS and health & safety procedures
  • Experience supervising site teams or supporting project delivery (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices and project coordination
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and programme schedules
  • Good IT skills and reporting capability
  • Full UK driving licence

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of projects in line with health, safety, quality, time, and cost objectives
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and site procedures
  • Review and manage Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, lift plans, and temporary works
  • Carry out site inspections and ensure safe storage and use of plant and equipment
  • Coordinate site activities, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme requirements
  • Support quality assurance, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and third parties to support project delivery
  • Monitor progress against programme and report risks and opportunities
  • Support planning activities, including lookahead meetings and collaborative planning
  • Assist with procurement, material scheduling, and site logistics
  • Work with commercial teams on reporting, early warnings, and cost control
  • Provide updates, reports, and progress information to project teams and senior management
